Comparing Pencil Sketches of My Early Years

Pencil is a medium which every artist tries and in fact whenever our hands are free we doodle or make sketches. This not only acts as a study for learning and experimenting with different pencil strokes but also makes me feel relaxed and full of energy, and of course gives us artists new ideas and themes for new paintings.

The different pencil strokes can be done using various pencils. Though all strokes are the same when studied but every artist has their own distinct style of sketching which when observed is prominent in their pencil sketches. I am more attracted to the straight and confident strokes and curves though needed in some sketches for making them complete are a minimum seen in my pencil sketches.
The pencil sketches were done in year 2001 and 2002 as well as every year since then till 2005 for making a connection with art and a break from using oils (when there is shortage of art materials!). So I keep the flow art materials or no!any A4 size white paper will do and I am on!no wonder I have many early paintings and sketches done on paper.

Study different Pencil Strokes Sketch
When I compared my earlier sketches and the later pencil sketches there was a vast deference. the strokes were more bolder, darker and confident. I also found that I sketched without any fear of making good art. And once this fear leaves then come original beautiful art!

Small Water Colour Study Paintings by Healing Artist

The year 2000 and 2001 was of very hard and with effortless energy painting. water colour is not my favourite medium but I still tried my hand at this in my early years of discovery. My artists journey began with oil paints and I have also used wall paint for my first painting having fallen short of tube paint! 'The Hibiscus flowers' year 2000.

Using water colour for painting was a challenge and though the paint flowed as any other medium I liked the thickness and solid feel of oil paints. the texture, the layering and the translucent form of this medium, oil paints, is what gives my paintings bright and fresh look.
The discovery of my style or rather I term an understanding of self, led me to use water colours and the strokes flowed like a waterfall gushing to break through a hard rock. The small artworks were actually to study different strokes and as of now I have tried to arrange them in groups and maybe some time later will have a few collages of all these small artworks. Yes it is very true that water colour gives you the freedom to experiment, to try different strokes and the beautiful layerings come up as transparent texture and flowy nature of the water and of course water colour is cheaper than the oil paints. So I painted and painted and there were so many paintings approximately 200 small water colour study paintings.

These strokes and lines and the brushes loaded with water colour all were done in efficient and confident and carefree strokes. In fact there is music which can be felt on observing these paintings. All these lines were there from the beginning but they had no meaning and symbolism for me and I was confused as to why I painted and what I painted. being a healing artist and doing Reiki had opened up several channels of which I was unaware and unconsciously the paintings coming up were planned by the higher force, that which I did not understand! the journey of an healing artist is difficult and very trying as we first have to conquer our own emotions, come to terms with the fact that we are to live according to the higher force and many times I feel trapped inside this body, and to follow this path. There were times when an artist goes on painting and nobody understands , and after more than a decade I do, well my early years were exactly this!

Symbols Sketches with Paint by Healing Artist Rizwana

Symbols were always with me as I revisited my early paint sketches done using brush and back oil paint. In year 2001 as I did pencil and pen sketches I also did some using direct black paint and was this the time when calligraphy which was not known to me then was emerging in my art style. As of now I do use symbols and make symbolic healing paintings but yes they are full of colours! I just cannot control myself and not use as many colors as I can, I love the texture of oil paint, the thickness, the smell, the layers of thick paint over the canvas, how could I possibly not use colours and just do black and white paintings, not me!

The sketches done using black oil paint have some what similar reiki symbols but they are not very clear. My latest paintings have strong and powerful symbols and I do have full faith on my symbols that they work, and I have seen the effect of symbolic healing paintings as I have gone through this journey of spiritual enlightenment as an artist , a human being, a reiki channel. To make ones self hollow like the lotus or the lucky bamboo from feng shui ( fengshui-simplecures.blogspot.com ) and beautiful like the flower has been my aim in life and I do not know how much I have achieved this but am sure on my way!

I was trying so hard to understand all these sketches and early paintings and it is now that after painting for more than a decade I have come to my true calling, painting for healing and using art for healing.
Assembled these in healing untitled collages.

Healing Artist Sketches of Early Years

The spiritual journey has been continuing with new discoveries every day!
My early years after doing Reiki were very confusing and hard for me as I did not understand why I painted and what I painted. The influences though spiritual were often so different from what people would relate to me, and opposite of my nature. I had the feeling that I was connected to my guides and as the years went by now I am very confident that I have not chosen art, art chose me!

One of the most strong influence which transferred into a series of sketches was about the Mira bai, the spiritual music and the eternal love all these emotions led to the beautiful sketches on mira bai eternal,  a series of sketches among the many sketches done in my early years, in 2001.
Pen Sketch by Rizwana Mundewadi
Revisiting the early memories and the strong spiritual influences , the times when I painted like wild and I still do, without stopping for food, sleep and the energy has to be transferred on to my artworks, my hands would pain, become numb but I continued to paint ...and I still do painting with the same passion.

Series of Sketches in my early years
Series on Mira Bai happened after I did Music Flowing on Canvas and adding more to the original artwork came about doing quiet a number of pen sketches on Mira Bai and her eternal love.
Pen Sketch Series Mira Bai Eternal by Rizwana
Sketches form an important part of every artists' work. Sketches have made me follow my instinct of spiritual paintings without thinking and this practice to open up my chakras was essential for my spiritual progress. As an artist i needed to break the blocks coming up in my creative process and as every artist doodles and scribbles I did sketches like wild!
These sketches are done on A4 size white paper and done using pen, whereas my other sketches are done using pencils, crayons and of course later on brush and paint. There was a time when I though of painting using only black colour and the white background looked beautiful. the lines and images would come up on the paper and since my lines usually did not have any meaning then, for me, though now I do understand everything was for a purpose, I did a number of sketches and en drawings. But colours could not be left and I realized I enjoyed using bright colours and that too thick and laden on the brush, without the brush, and this led me to do abstracts which were done with the same passion as I have more than 1000 paintings done using direct paint form the tube on paper.

Eight Auspicious Symbols - Ashtamangala Described, Golden Pot of Treasures Painting

Golden Pot of treasures, Good Luck Painting
The eight auspicious symbols commonly known as Ashtamangala in Buddhist culture is very often seen in old artworks and paintings. These eight symbols are very powerful and believed to bring in lots of prosperity and good luck.
My obsession with pots and as they are an very important part of my paintings I have used the most famous good luck symbols in this artwork that is done on oil sketch paper using oil and acrylic paints.
The Dhungkar or the White conch symbolizes the awakening of the sentient being from the sleeping state of ignorance and I have used this conch symbol in many of my healing artworks.
The Bhumpa is one of my favorite symbols used in making helping paintings as this symbolizes a vase of inexhaustible treasures. Hanging this healing painting will welcome good prosperity and wealth in ones life and as the name symbolizes the vase of inexhaustible treasures.
Another symbol is Dug which signifies the shade under which one is protected from the scorching heat and problems of thsi life and world. It is used as a powerful symbol for protection.
The Palbheu or the mystic knot is a famous symbol used by many cultures to symbolize harmony and unending life resources. The good fortune of complimenting every aspect of your life the endless knot is merged and intertwined with each other and is very difficult to paint.
Another symbols from the eight auspicious symbols is Gyaltsen, the Victorious Banner which is seen in many Buddhist paintings and flags. the symbol assures Victory and is used to symbolize victory of bad over evil.
Many evil forces block and obstruct the success and this symbol is used to overcome this negative energy and invite positive luck.
Pema or the beautiful lotus which is seen in many Buddhist paintings and is also seen in many of my healing paintings is a universal symbol for peace and luck. It is the ultimate symbol for enlightenment and achieving the ultimate in spirituality. This is the symbol for non attachment, how this feeling is great when you are not attached to anything and feel freedom to invite grace to offer you, you are a mere spectator , an actor who just has to act and this feeling is of great achievement, the feeling of non attachment, of not being responsible for everything. This is just what we advice in reiki, to let go of all attachments and free yourself of the guilt of not being responsible for everything and anything! There is a super power who is controlling everything and you are not the center of everything. Trust me this feeling is awesome. The image of lotus in most Buddhist  artworks is not painted as our lotus flower because this flower does not grow in Tibet and the people have modified the image according to make it decorative.
This healing painting has another auspicious symbol here which is the Wheel of Dharma. The Choekyi Khoreo or the Wheel of Dharma. Using these symbols in single , in pairs and also all the eight auspicious symbols together I have made healing paintings that when hung on any wall will continue giving healing for your whole life. Healing is not limited to any one person or any one situation and can heal just anyone and everyone.
The Sernya or the two Golden Fishes is also a symbol that is frequently used by healing and feng shui artists. In feng shui fishes swimming gracefully are a sure sign to welcome prosperity and good luck. painting depicting fishes swimming is considered to be very lucky and hanging such paintings in the north will invite career luck and money luck into your life. It indicates the power to swim in this ocean of life without any hindrance or blockages.

Ashtamangala Painting

These eight auspicious symbols have been judiciously used in this painting and my favorite pots, this is a large pot, of treasures. This healing painting is done on oil sketch paper using oil paints and acrylic . 27x20.5 Inches and done in year 2009. Golden symbols have more power and I have used the colour gold to highlight and make the symbols more powerful.
Magnification of Energy
Golden colour immediately transforms the artwork into a unique and rich textured artwork, and the use of golden colour increases the power of the symbols.

Reiki and Feng Shui Paintings for Emotional healing and Mentor Luck

Healing paintings and the use of Reiki symbols in art has made me work and give special meanings to my lines. Symbols are a very powerful tool to create and attract luck, wealth and prosperity. Though all these things are in abundance in the universe , it is we who have to tap this potential. very often even after trying too hard we cannot invite some luck into our lives and it is here that healing paintings come to our rescue.
healing Paintings can help to clear past bad karma or blockage sin karma which hinder our progress in our present lives. Some powerful symbols and their daily exposure will give you the desired push to clear off the blockages in your aura and karma and help to make way for prosperity and good health.

Feng Shui Painting for Inviting Helpful Friends
The most important feng shui luck one can get is for the helpful friends area and as well all know that many successful and wealthy people have got the right friends, or mentors in their lives who have guided or nudged them to move further int he right direction. This painting is done using the principles of feng shui for balancing energy in your home and office and attracting mentor luck. The symbols used are for inviting grace from the universe and attracting helpful friends.
Placement and Hanging suggestions for this feng shui painting: The painting has colours used to activate the feng shui career area and feng shui relationship area of your home. Hang this painting according to the area where you desire to have the energy activated. If you wish to have mentor luck for success in business and job and wealth then the best place to hang this would be in your living room or bedroom in the north or north west direction. You will attract and make new and helpful friends in your life and even in your present job you will attract favorable boss and colleagues.
This feng shui painting is done in the year 2011 on oil sketch paper and is of size 12x8.5 Inches.

Reiki Healing Painting for Emotional and Mental healing
Reiki symbols used in this abstract symbolic healing painting for healing mental and emotional traumas and sufferings of the past. These symbols are a very powerful way to clear off negative thoughts and past bad memories. especially childhood traumas and bitter experiences of abuse. This Reiki healing painting is done on oil sketch paper using oil paints. The size is 12x8.5 Inches and done in the year 2011.
This is a Reiki healing painting done to ask forgiveness from the universe.Once your karma is cleared you will lead a well adjusted and peaceful life ahead. It is also symbolic representation of your wishes to ask for forgiveness from the universe and welcome grace into your life. The powerful Reiki symbol used here in this healing painting will remove all negative energy stopping you from your progress and happiness.
The colours used are earth brown to make grounding of energy and white for purity of symbols. The red coloured symbol along with golden colour gives extra energy to the power for the Reiki symbol. The colour gold is used since ages by artists as this is a royal colour and indicates strength of metal, abundance in wealth  and prosperity.
Daily exposure to these healing  Reiki and feng shui paintings will give you energy and activate positivity. These symbols are also used to remove blocks and negative energy from your home, office and your mind. The whole process of purification takes at least three months and more  and you will see drastic changes in your life.
Suggestion and placement tips for Reiki painting- the prominent color used for grounding are brown and gold. The strength of metal along with grounding of earth colours makes this painting an appropriate cure to hang on your east or south eats wall of your bedroom or living room. These symbolic paintings do not have any negative effects and will work for everyone in the family. The symbols work on intentions of the Reiki master and Healing Artist.
There are never any negative consequences or fear of overdose of these healing paintings.Reiki energy is pure energy from the universe and this energy will go where it is required and heal that part of your life, even when you are not aware of it. I do love my symbols and believe in their power and you too will.

Floral Paintings and their Significance in Feng Shui

Feng shuii Floral paintings are always loved and so healing! best symbolic energy flower paintings are good feng shuii activators for any space and flowers symbolize beauty, purity, joy, growth and wealth. As any artist would begin their career by painting from nature even I painted few flower paintings. Nature is our best teacher and everywhere you get loads of inspiration to make new paintings.
Old painting year 2000 check other healing art for sale
This painting has been done without using a reference picture of flowers, abstract flowers cubism, and the transformation was magical as this painting still has a special place in my heart and my home.  Got it framed, it was damaged, stitched and repaired, and the colours of this painting are bright and very relaxing and the flowers do come to life. After painting some roses and lilies I had painted rose flowers and series of rose paintings with different coloured roses in the year 2000.
As these paintings were done on simple A4 size paper there was no pressure about cost of art materials and the result was fabulous. Thousands I painted obsessively!

So flowers always have been an inspiration for my healing art especially with my passion for growing exotic plants and Gardening. My latest painting has water lilies, roses, Brahma Kamal, the water lily is of symbolic importance so as the lotus flowers. In fact it was lotus that was selected to make and I just go with the flow and continue painting , whichever form it takes. So the painting on canvas emerged as Lotuses of Buddha

Activate the bond of love with Best feng shui Reiki Roses abstract painting by Rizwana
In the Tibetan culture lotus is of utmost spiritual significance and as the lotus flower does not grow in Tibet the people have modifications and decorative forms of this flower in their artworks and carvings.  Reiki also lays a lot of importance on Lotus as the flower emerges from deep muddy soil. With serene purity and beauty the Lotus is symbolic of enlightenment and peace.
Placement Suggestions for Floral paintings: Flowers are beautiful and can be hung in any place and any direction. hence floral paintings have universal appeal as they are accepted and loved by everyone and of all ages. Usually people hang floral paintings on a wall of their living room in groups or single according to the size of the paintings.
Best Reiki Flowers Healing Paintings for sale.
Feng shui significance of floral paintings is that they can be used as cures for helping bring in energy in your life. These floral paintings can be used instead of real flowers to activate career and relationship luck. You can hang paintings of yellow, white or purple blue flowers and also roses in the direction for which you need extra energy. in case of energy blocks in career and relationships or helpful friends corner the white and yellow flower paintings are very good as feng shui  cures to activate this area in your home or office.
You can have these floral painting hung on the west wall for increasing creativity and imagination luck and is very good for people working in creative fields like advertisements and designing. Activate feng shui educational luck with lotus flower paintings. Water Lillies and lotus paintings can be hung in the north and north west corner to activate the water element of your home. Just take care that the painting is not hung in the south or east wall as this painting will have water in it.
While selecting floral paintings consider the colors and appearance of flowers in the painting, they must be fresh and bright colors as this will enliven your room as well as your mood. Muddied water and dried flower paintings must be avoided. In feng shui dried flowers and stale water affects our career and life relationships adversely.

Painterly Style Spiritual painting

The Most Delicious Spiritual Fruit- Painting by Rizwana M
Trying out different painting styles over the years this painting 'The Most Delicious Spiritual Fruit' is done in painterly style in the year 2007. The brush was loaded with paint directly and laid in strokes over oil sketch paper. The paint has piled up and I know it takes much much longer for my paintings to dry due to layers of paints. This painting along with few other artworks have been done in painterly style. The joy of painting this was in the theme of very famous artworks was to enjoy the taste, feel and experience of eating the most delicious spiritual fruit.
The colours selected were my favorite ones of french Ultramarine blue, shades of brown and turquoise, the spiritual colour. The theme I know has been dabbled by many artists and this painting is not a copy and it just happened.I can never copy or get influenced by any artwork and I know this is working in both ways, I do only original artworks , but the down side is I never get to open up to learn from others.
Spiritual colours are always seen in many paintings and I have selected brown for grounding in this artwork. Thus creating a balance between heaven and earth and enjoying the most delicious spiritual fruit.
Sometimes I wonder my spirit guides are making me do this by guiding my hands as I really do not remember the choice of paints and colors when I am so involved in the artwork, and only when I finish do I take a look at the final painting.
I also do make the intentions of making a good artwork before beginning to allow my guides to paint through me. Being an healing artist Symbols come up and I have to try hard not to paint symbols every where. When my painting does not have a symbol , it is understood that I have consciously avoided to involve them in some paintings.
The same style is also seen in another painting done ' The Garden Gate' and ' The Fountain of Youth'.

Lessons from an Healing Artist

Double Abundance - Symbolic painting by Rizwana
A symbolic painting is just what come up whenever I sit to paint. The paintings put up in this post are done in the years 2009 and earlier.
Colour Therapy Cold Fire Painting for healing
Colours can be used effectively for healing and colour therapy is just that. The cold fire in Reiki therapy is used to purify and negativity in form of energy in your home or office as well as your mind. The cold fire will cleanse any negative energy and transform the place or person into attracting positive energy. The painting can be hung in home or office for best healing results from colour therapy.
Charmed Possessions by Rizwana Healing Artist
One of my favorite paintings and NOT for sale 'Charmed Possessions' is a beautiful painting done on canvas. The colours flow into one another and the golden symbols bring a three dimensional view to this artwork.
Sacred Geometry Painting

Abstract Geometric painting by Rizwana
My small paintings done in the early years of 2000 and 2005 have many geometric shapes. One f the artworks that had received very good comments and I tried my hand in making the same piece on a larger oil sketch paper. The painting can never be copied, not even by me and however much hard I tried to make the same piece I just couldn't!
lesson number one- each painting is unique. So put your maximum for the one painting that is in your hand.
Lesson number two- never try to copy any artwork as I can't, (though there are some fake artist who do just that, wonder if they would have painted their originals they would have made an identity till now!)S I have left the idea of going through old paintings for inspiration and each new painting is always different from my other works.
Lesson three- Paint what you love and what comes easily. Trying my hand on making fine art paintings has led me to some frustration and I have left the desire to make fine art. Let my art be as I am with my symbols and my abstraction! more complex than it seem and still more beautiful!
Lesson Four- Only painting is not enough. I need to sell my artworks for a career in art. Selling a part of me, my soul is put up in each painting, still the fact and truth is that we artists cannot hoard our paintings forever. These artworks when heal others will give me more happiness than I can imagine. Just the though that a part of me will be in many other homes or offices, is great! Share your art.
Lesson Five- keep learning. Do not stand still. Movement is necessary for progress. This is the most important lesson from my life and I have always kept the struggle for identity on. Keeping the art and artist alive with all the pressures and limitations is the best part of my artist journey.
Symbols have come after I have painted lines for years and years. People viewing lines would think they are monotonous and even I was confused with this souls longing for making lines. The lines have transformed into shapes giving meanings to my art. healing and feng shui paintings are my latest artworks and still I do not know how my artist journey will progress. When a new idea will come up and new artworks with loads of energy and love. Healing art is for life and my Reiki paintings with karma symbols heal the past, present and future. The thrill, the excitement with each new artwork and the enthusiasm of each new colorful idea for painting is all that keeps me alive!
