The Art of Glazing in Painting How to use Glazing Technique in Paintings

How to use glazing techniques in painting. Glazing is a technique of laying transparent layers of paints one over the other considering the effects they produce to the viewers eye. Usually glazing is done using transparent colors and not opaque colors in oils as the effect of glazing is only seen after many layers of thin paint.
Glazing was in fact a protective layer on the painting by applying thin light brown varnish to form an protective cover for the precious oil on canvas paintings.
Color field painting has been on my mind for many years but never tried this technique. Laying of paints in thick texture was  very important to me as for this I have chosen oils over any other medium. Water color, thin, transparent has never come out good for me and the few works that I have done earlier are the only proof that I have tried even this medium, water color.
Glazing is not easy especially of you  don't have patience, it takes time, a lot of time. Patiently thinning the paint with thinner  or dissolver and waiting for every layer to dry off.
Colors like yellow when painted over with prussian blue give a lovely beautiful green. A simple lesson for every person who has studied art but for me a new discovery, a process of beauty. The newness of each color, each stroke, innocent strokes bring out immense feelings of happiness. Glazing can also help to give a shine to your artworks when used as thin layer over the painting.
Color study is essential for glazing as to understand the effects of each color over the other.

Few simple tips on glazing-
It is very important that glazing requires very thin paint,  but not too thin that the color looks muddy.
Let the layers of paint dry off well before next coat other wise the previous layer of paint will get mixed with the new layer of paint and form muddy color.
Study color well before selecting for glazing art technique in painting. Understand how the effect to the eye each paint will give on reflecting of light if you want a specific effect.
For creative results you can glaze only few parts of painting and leave the rest try it looks great. Can layer  on some parts with glaze and leave the rest with original color.
An after thought, if this does not work use the canvas by repainting over it, enjoy the process of glazing!

 Sacred geometry was beginning in its nascent stage and has now advanced to the higher level shapes of the Octad my favourite one. Feng shui symbolism and  sacred geometry along with Reiki symbolism all has become a flowing part of me and my healing art.
From sweet landscapes and lines and many many lines, I have started using symbols in my paintings. Beginning with the eight auspicious symbols in Tibetan Buddhism and the Ashtamangala 
Symbolism depicts much more than what is visible to the eye. It is the viewpoint of the artist first, visualization next and then come the real paintings which may be totally different. After this the eye of the viewer, the though processes in the mind of the viewers comes to play and this brings a totally different picture and explanation.

How to keep your costly paintings safe and in good condition.Being an artists since many decades the preservation storing and conserving old artworks comes as a part of our artists career.  As we are seeing many new  young art collectors in the art field it is very important to understand  the golden  rules of art collectors to preserve your precious possessions of art safe and in good condition for years ahead for them to give you good substantial returns over the years. While you keep buying new paintings  and hang them for display, after a time they become too many for your wall  space,   as your place them with new works, when not in use it  is important to store your paintings in proper manner and safe.

1) Very important , buy cheap,  means hunt for new talent, new  artists , also you can bargain and get great deals on buying more paintings, new emerging artists works so that you can get a good number of paintings in  your budget ranges. Here the advantage of storing paintings would be that most of the works are   either ten or more years old and not more than that so  the paintings  are varnished and in very good condition, no need to spend money on restoration work or preserving of paintings.

2) Never store your paintings in areas where there is too much sunlight exposure. This is harmful for your precious possessions, your costly paintings collections. 3) Cover your prized oil and acrylic paintings collections with soft muslin cloth when not hanged on walls. Any soft cloth that will not damage the texture in your paintings.
4) In case  of framed  paintings in glass, collages and other types of artworks   very important to pack them  carefully in wooden boxes or some containers to protect them from harm.  Label them, handle with care and which side up to open the next time someone gets back to them.
5) Keep your prized costly paintings safe, in safety lock, as  many works of famous artist are worth a fortune and many art collections value with art collectors goes  in many millions of  $. Good locks and safety security measures  for your art collections. Many have regulated temperature rooms for storing prized costly paintings from their art collections. There are also storage safe vaults for storing artworks but they are very costly so only few  really precious artworks can be listed, insured and stored here.
6) Insure the art collection, especially costly artworks of famous artists, from a reputed insurance company, it is better to be safe than sorry, for unexpected crises and unnatural disasters.

Have a show for private guests, art  galleries and art shows,  and also keep rotating hanging new art in your homes and offices so that your paintings also get to do the  most important thing, breathe!
