Small works of Oil on Paper - 8 Guidelines Advice For the Arts Graduates and Upcoming Artists by Rizwana A.Mundewadi

Painting since year 2000 the journey not so easy by more of an inner self discovery one, I am sharing here in this post how to begin an art career. The new upcoming artist are fresh from the college of arts or self taught artists who have not exhibited their works in a gallery. Painting takes its own course and the artist struggles to prove their identity by expressing themselves with colour. Art materials and resources are costly and sometimes the new artist struggles with giving more works and the materials available.
The cost of art resources and no exposure may lead the artist to become demoralized as it is very difficult to enter into the art industry. Technical know how and expenditure incurred in putting up an exhibition is not easy and the artist is already in the process of establishing a style of painting and does not be able to focus on the marketing or selling aspect.
Here small works on paper come handy. People around you, your friends and relatives who are also your well wishers may end up buying smaller works to encourage you. Even in the public galleries the common crowd may go in  smaller works due to less space availability in their homes. I know the selling part of art is the bitter part for every artist. You have to give up on a part of you, like your baby...so much effort and liking develops during the process of painting a work. But also the bitter truth is unless you sell your works you will not be able to share them with the world.
7 Guidelines Advice  For the Arts Graduates and Upcoming Artists by Rizwana A.Mundewadi-
1)Use less costly materials in the beginning. You can choose students paints that are cheaper than professional artists colours. Acrylics too will be cheaper than oils, but remember oil paintings sell for higher price.
2)One can even purchase students paints in the beginning and synthetic brushes that are less costly. Brushes as you begin painting you will see are from natural, sable hair, artificial hair, synthetic, and so many sizes and options available. Results from each brush vary and go in for cheaper brushes in the beginning.
3) This is the best advice for any new artist. Start with small works of art on oil sketch paper till you are confident and comfortable with the big canvas and artists paints. Oil sketch paper, drawing papers are cheaper than canvas. And even when you love painting on canvas choose smaller sizes so that you can sell them at affordable rates.
4)Water colours are also cheap but not all artists are comfortable with this medium.Select a medium that are less costly to purchase and take less maintenance. Every artists develops their own style over the years with choice of colours, techniques, styles. It may take years for you to find your voice and follow it. For that you will have to paint thousands and thousands of artworks. 10,000 hours of painting will show you your own style emerging. you will find me here! The Red Pilgrim's Soul Perk^Up Healing Art.  for more advice.
5) It is bound that you may want to exhibit your works. Choice of frames is also important. Frames can be made using acrylic or glass with less costly moldings for smaller works. Choose less elaborate or ornamental frames for your small paintings.
6) As you paint consider the storage aspect too. Not all will sell and in fact costly original art takes years to sell. You have to take care and store the artworks in good condition till you promote, share, exhibit and sell those paintings. Storing paintings is a big issue with every artist and smaller works can be stored easily in a folder. Number them and store them carefully.

7)Best part of smaller works is that you can carry them easily while traveling to any place for an exhibition. Keep those costs in your list too. For beginning many years in your art career you will need to be putting in resources of time and money. Art career does not shoot like a rocket, it takes time to warm up and as you develop your style and keep sharing promoting your art till you become a known famous artists, then you can quote your price!
