I usually prefer to make some creative artworks and not the traditional festival paintings. We have tons of Deepavali paintings of diyas and lights and also Christmas paintings of Christmas trees and Santa's and snow and reindeers. I observe the festivals from an emotional point and want to bring out the essence of the festival. the festival be it a Hindu one or Muslim or Christianity or South Indian ,North India etc all have a aim to bring spirit of cheer, giving, thankfulness gratitude and sharing.
Try to see various display and decorations around but never copy anything, make your own art. Festival season gives many creative ideas. Never try to copy anything. losing your originality is very bad. Just take only a glint of idea and develop own concept. I know most of the times it is very difficult to create original art. I have seen artists who follow certain ideas and pictures for reference get great works but am not satisfied. I take the road less traveled. May not be able to produce the most beautiful artwork but have the confidence to own the work wholly. Originality never loses its shine!
Festivals for me are family get together, bonding times, clearing misunderstandings, going to each others homes, having fun filled joyful lunches and dinners, eating treats and goodies and gifting the best of gifts.
Modern decor homes do not look good with traditional festival paintings. We need urban artworks to blend in contemporary decor rooms and homes. Many people renovate homes and yet continue to hang the same old festival religious paintings which look out of place in the urban vibes.
